Stone Witches is an invitation to discover the beauty of rocks and minerals through art and poetry.
By combining art and science, I share my passion for stones with every reader.
I started Stone Witches in 2023 as an illustration project where I explored ways to symbolically represent stones and their properties. It is also an opportunity for me, as a geologist, to share my knowledge of rocks and minerals. For each piece of art, I complement my existing knowledge with additional investigation and attempt to highlight interesting facts about the stones. In the end, each piece of art comes with some scientific vulgarisation, briefly introducing each stone.

I drew and wrote every part of this series, but it would never have seen the light of day without my incredible friend Nadg, who is doing the proofreading and layout, and is even helping me with some artistic decisions!

In February 2024, I ran a successful Kickstarter campaign giving birth to a small zine that mixes poetry, geology and illustration. This was the first release of Stone Witches, featuring 10 illustrations, poetry and short scientific presentations.
Stone Witches is still ongoing, and I am now working on a second, more detailed volume. I am hoping to include 37 witches in this new volume. I have already created 18 of them and I hope to have finished them all by fall 2027. For this second series, I am trying to incorporate more scientific facts into my art and showcase a wider variety of minerals.

I am a freelance artist based in France working under the pseudo Elwyn Rain (previoulsy Ewylana Art). I love to draw fantasy and TTRPG illustrations. I mostly draw medieval fantasy and sometimes retrofuturistic universes, taking inspiration from my TTRPG games. My favourite subject to paint in the medieval fantasy genre is dwarves!I am also a geologist passionate about rocks and fossils, which I love to include in my drawings.I am mostly self-taught, but I have been mentored by Paul Scott Canavan, Onyrica and Indicreates, who helped me to further develop my skills.I am currently seeking freelance opportunities in the TTRPG and TGC fields as well as for book covers art. I have previously worked for Posidonia JDR, Posidonia Jeunesse, a couple self-published authors and multiple published fanzine. I've also self published an artzine, Stone Witches trough a crowdfunding, and I am currently working on its second volume. Please email me if you have any questions — I would be really happy to work with you!

This artwork was created under the guidance of Indicreates with the aim of creating a mocks up book cover. I used one of my original characters as inspiration, but took the opportunity to update her design. The mockup layout was done by my friend Nadg.

This artwork was created for a private client, showcasing their DnD character, a strange tiefling fighter with a lot of religious trinket on her.

This work was done for Paul Scott Canvan mentorship. The aim of this mentorship was to create an illustration similar to a MtG heroes card. I wanted to depict a retired scout or fighter, following a whole dwarf dinosaur army and serving in it as a support.

After working on a strange mermaid riding cambrian creatures for MIR bootcamp in 2024, I wanted to go back to this concept. I choosed to do a more environemental focused and peaceful piece, more like an introduction to the story told by my other piece. It was the occasion to revisit the mermaid and her mount design too, pushing for stronger colors.

This art was created for XPpen challenge, "microview - macroimagination" where it was asked to create a whole scenery from a small every day details, here a stump covered by mushrooms.

This artwork was created for a private client depicting their D&D party, in a way that could be used both as a group party and as individual portraits. I had to create most of the design of the characters.
